Who has the biggest bananas among South East Asian Nations?

December 11, 2008

This might be silly but it’s true…Filipinos have the longest and biggest bananas among South East Asian nations. Vietnam comes second. Thais have bananas that look so cute, you wouldn’t want to put it in your mouth.
Some people including me might find this shocking. Some might think it’s funny. I experienced it myself. Upon seeing it, I couldn’t believe it. It was just scary big. I wanted to touch it to check if it was real but the man was grumpy and unwelcoming.

I am Busted!

March 26, 2008

I wonder why my electrical appliances and gadgets are breaking down.  This is the Busted list in order.

1. Electric Cooker

 2. Automatic Rice Cooker

3. Hot Iron

4. TV Channel Switching Buttons

5. Electric Fan

6. Subwoofer and speaker which I had fixed.

And the latest,  my camera.  I love my camera, I had it with me for more than 2 years now. It is a brilliant camera. I did an assload of research before I settled on it. It got positive and recommended reviews from different camera websites and forums.  It is Casio Z750. It is considered as one of the best digicams that offer clear picture and a decent video quality.

We went to a cemetery. Before I could take pictures, the caretaker told us that it wasn’t allowed. He said that it was disrespectful. We waited for him to leave so when he did, I took my camera out and set up the tripod.

The pictures taken were all over-exposed. There was too much light on every picture. We barely see ourselves.

My camera kept on making overexposed pictures. It gotten worse.

Could it be some sort of ghostly chuva?

Supernatural phenomena?

What about my other gadgets that broke down?

So what is next? Please, whoever put a *tech curse* on my things, don’t destroy my computer notebook. I can give you my cell phone and coffeemaker if you want.

I just informed my brother that I would give him a camera for his birthday.  I can’t do it anymore!

Jomtien Beach, Pattaya, Thailand

March 12, 2008

This is from my Friendster blog dated March 15, 2006.

I’m back and I’m black. I was in Pattaya for an overnight with Bing, Beth, Chris and Kat. We headed to the beach just to see a swarm of old foreigners. They were all old males. If my memory serves me right, I only saw three foreign women and one male about my age, and all our oldies. I don’t have anything against them. The beach is just full of them. Aside from the oldies, there are so many male gay prostitutes at that beach. No women prostitutes at all.You can see humpings everywhere! Please don’t comment on this blog that I’m homophobic or discriminating, I’m just telling you what I experienced there. I’m not against gays, lesbians, and even prostitutions! This blog is under the category – blabbermouth; wanderlust.

We arrive at the beach at around 1 PM, then ate lunch in a small eatery, then took some pictures. I was sitting in a chair, my plan was to swim at around 3:30, because I really don’t want to get burned, but the call of the beach was really powerful! I hit the beach like it was my first time to swim at the see. Well, that was really my first after last year.I remembered my trip at Lingayen, pangasinan with my best friends. We really had fun there. The beach is an average type, but the presence of my friends made the trip fantastic and memorable.Back to Pattaya, Thailand, the water in the shower was blasting on my skin. You don’t even need to use soap for the water was so powerful, it would remove anything on your skin be it moles, hairs, pimples. I swear some of my hairs were pulled! The shower is like a fire truck’s hose but stronger.

I have experienced being cannoned by the fire truck’s hose twice. One was in a camping at Marikina with my best friends. We just got out of the muddy obstacle course and the last course was taking a bath under the fire truck’s mercy. The other one was in the anti-Erap rally (SONA) at PHILCOA, Quezon City. The police force used water cannon to pacify the rallyist. And it wasn’t an excellent act so the police resorted to throwing rocks on us, which was really effective because I ran with my backpack covering my head. My point is the shower at that beach was more painful than fire truck’s water cannon.I wasn’t hurt by those water cannons but that killing shower at that beach really did.

For the night, we went to the infamous “Walking Street”. Lots of bars, night clubs, stores, and of course, prostitutes! There are thousands and thousands of foreigners but the numbers of men, women, gay prostitutes are more than the numbers of foreigners. The “walking street” is like a big sex city! I don’t even know what’s with the name “Walking street”. I think, the “Sex City” would suit perfectly.

Back now in Bangkok, I just bought some albums; Alanis Morisette the collection, Best of BlackEyedPeas, Keane, and a compilation of best love songs (debatable). I searched for BIlly Corgan’s “Zwan” and “The Best of Jewel” albums but wasn’t succesful.

Ode to my Backpack

February 9, 2008

This article is dedicated to my Camelbak rip-off backpack,  my companion for 7 years. It is a gift from my mountaineer sister. The brand is Camelbak, but I know that this is just a rip-off.Hahaha. She got it from a close friend who owns a mountaineering gadgets shop in University of the Philippines.Yes, it is pirated, but is on par with the original one. She has been supportive with my outdoor hobby for she is a good mountaineer. She has been invited to join fed climbs all throughout the country. I am a scouter so you always find me camping or hiking with my fellow scouters. It was given to me when I was in my 2nd year college.

My backpack is just a daypack, but I use it for 2 or 3-day climb. Thanks to my good packing skill. Its colour is what I just like, a combination of blue and black. It has been my school bag since  college up to now.Where has it been? Bulacan, Baguio, Pangasinan, Quezon, Batangas, Subic, Zambales, Thailand,Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore. It never fails to keep my things safe, clean and  comfortable to carry. In those places, it never gotten any tear. Then came my miniature pinscher dog. Yes,he bit and tore it just like what he did to my camera charger,3 pairs of slippers, 3 5 – meter long extension wires, 1 pair of shoes, passport, hot iron cord, and so on. My legendary backpack is still usable. I will still be using it even though  I just bought a new bag. I have a new backpack that I bought to serve as a gift for myself. It is Compass 3-in-1 by High Sierra. It stands 29 inches and the colour is blue and gray. It can be carried in 3 ways which is awesome, but I have yet to see it stand the test of mother nature just like how she tested my old daypack.

To my black and blue backapack,I will never forget you.You will always stay in my heart.

Cambodia,Vietnam or the Philippines?

January 15, 2008

I have been to the capital cities of Singapore, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines of course. My simple dream is to tour South East Asia. Two more months and summer vacation is on!I have three choices of place to go to.

First is the Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Many people consider it as one of the true wonders of the world.I am really dying to go there since my field is related to it. At least, before I die, I have been to the great Angkor Wat!

Halong Bay in Vietnam is a UNESCO Heritage Site.It is one of the most popular tourist spots in Vietnam. According to my Austrian friend who is an expat living there, the water is dirty so I should not be fooled by the postcards. I am sure that I will not be spending that much there because because my friend is willing to accomodate me.

The third choice is Boracay,Philippines. Before you raise your hand and stab me with your dagger while calling me traitor sa inang bayan, please hear my explanation.I was supposed to go there last April 2007,but wasn’t able to do so. The original plan was a two-day stay on the 11th of April with Rence and Kristine. They are my colleagues. Then enter Eladio,a close friend of mine teling me to re-sched it so he could go as well.I took all the lashes from Rence and re-sched the trip. They went on with the original date without me.Then came the 23rd of April,my friend was broke already. We just went to Malate!!!Well, anyone who wants to go backpacking with me this summer?
It will be fun!!!
